Let’s cozy up and READ!

It is my favourite season! Autumn! I guess the blog name does give it away. This post I wanted to write about the books that I’ll be reading this season or have read this season. Autumn is the perfect time to sit by on the sofa with a nice cup of tea (or in my case coffee!) and be transported to another world while you hear the windy storm outside of your window. I am the kind of person that does prefer happy endings but I do like a very well-written book. I’ll be frank, I have yet to find that cosy book feels that I could read in Autumn; I do have summer books and winter books (you will see those books in the next few posts). I am happy to search for the cosy book feels. With that in mind, I hope you find the recommendations useful, let me know what you think and share your most cosy book to read.

Autumnal Books I am KEEN to read!

NON-FICTION

I chose SCOTLAND’s Forgotten Past by Alistair Moffat, I suppose when I think of the most beautiful scenes of autumn nature and landscape, my brain conjures up the Highlands, Scotland. I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn most about the country and its history. I am a history girl so any opportunity to learn more history I am all for it. The book will explore the untold parts of Scottish history, and delve into the real heroes of Scottish independence and the romance of the highlands. It sounds like an interesting read!

LITERARY FICTION

During the autumn season, bookshops is the highlight or at least the staple action to do! With that in mind , for this category, I have found Once upon a Tome by Oliver Darkshire, there is nothing I like more that browsing among the bookstore to find the next book to read. This book follows story of a life in the world’s oldest bookshops. I imagine there would be lots of literary links to other books, authors and the like.

Autumnal Books I have read…..

ROMANCE

The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Lauren Gilmore; although I don’t drink Pumpkin Spice but this book definitely had autumnal themes running through the book. It was a delightful and easy read especially with these dark nights. It does follow that trope of escaping to a small town to discover yourself but in this particular case the escape was sorely needed!

BOOK RECOMMENDATION

Autumn by Ali Smith. A book that follows the seasons of the year, exploring different characters in various stages of life from the both the young and old. Focusing on the concept of change and transformation as season goes on, so do the characters. It is wonderful to see how the relationship between Elisabeth and Daniel changes over the years.
