My TBR Summer Reads

It's summer, so it's nice to take an excellent book, go to a cafe, beach or even that nice spot on the sofa. One of the best times to read is in the summer because there is more free time with longer days. There is more sunshine and warmth. There's no better feeling than just reading in the sun! (Ensure you wear sunscreen and have a nice bottle of cold water or iced coffee!)

I've curated a diverse selection of summer reads, ranging from romance to historical fiction. Some of these reads are part of my personal reading challenge for the year, where I aim to read a book with a title that starts with a letter from the alphabet. I'm excited to share these unique stories with you later this year.

Top 5 Summer TBR reads

1. Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood

I have followed Ali Hazelwood for a few years, and her books have not disappointed me. This book follows the same STEM female-oriented romance set in the background biotech engineering field of food science. Thrown in a little hostile takeover, mixed with forbidden romance and scientific exploration, you have an Ali Hazelwood book.

2. Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne

From the same author who wrote The Hating Game. This is a book I have already read, but lately, I wanted to re-read it. This would be interesting, as it has been a few years since I first read it. The romance book follows a 24-something woman working in a luxury retirement village and discovering that there may be more to the world than within the fence of her town.

3. All The Light We Cannot See by Antony Doerr

I watched the Netflix TV Series and was very interested from the start! I wanted to read the book! It looks like a mammoth compared to some of the books of my usual size, but I wanted to challenge myself. Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, it features characters who strive to be hopeful in a world that seems to be burning. One of the main characters is blind. It was an exciting perspective to learn more about how they would navigate the world, especially in times of war.

4. Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline

Again, I watched the movie Ready Player One and heard about the book's sequel, which piqued my interest. So, I'm excited to see where this goes from here. The book follows the aftermath of the first book. However, the victory of the first book loses its allure as a new riddle and new rivalries emerge. The book looks to the future and applies the complexities of today's world.

5. The Silence in between by Josie Ferguson

This book came up when I was researching based on historical true stories to read; I was fascinated by this book. It was set against the background of the erection of the Berlin Wall in 1961, a woman who gave up birth to her baby but ended up trapped on the east side of Berlin while her son remained on the west side of Berlin.

So there are my top 5 Summer TBR!

I am looking forward to reading these books!
